Graver's Angle | Planning your project remotely

If you are considering a renovation project, you may be wondering how to begin the process during this time?

Stephen Graver provides an insight on how this is possible from the comfort of your home.

"For a number of years’ we have worked with clients whom due to work commitments have not always been available to meet in person to discuss their project, and in these circumstances, technology has played a fantastic role in facilitating the communication", says Stephen. "During this time, apps such as WhatsApp, Zoom and FaceTime are brilliant at enabling us to not only begin the conversation but also provide a platform for the client to take us on a tour of their home which is incredibly helpful."

So, where to start? Information is key when beginning to plan a project; therefore, ahead of your remote consultation it may be worth taking some time to consider the following:

What you like (and don't like!) Collate a range of scrapbook ideas to indicate colour, materials and examples of finished projects. Whether that is using online tools such as Houzz or Pinterest. Or creating a physical scrapbook with cut-outs that you can take photos of and send via email or WhatsApp.

The project space

Photos of the area you would like to update, as well as some rough measurements of the space, including approximate positioning of doors, windows and radiators.

Your home

Photos or videos of other areas of your home that you are happy with (including the exterior) this really helps to provide a more complete picture of the setting, style and period of the property.

Inspiration

“Some of our clients come to us bursting with ideas and loaded with inspiration, others aren’t sure where to begin, and rely us to use our creative experience to guide the process” explains Stephen. “If you are planning on keeping existing furniture or ornaments, these can be helpful to inspire a design, equally a blank canvas is a really exciting place to start. It’s extremely rewarding collaborating with the client, creating a bespoke space that really works for the individuals.”

Remote meetings can continue throughout the design process, and can even include other contractors. If you would like to arrange your initial remote consultation, please contact Stephen Graver today: sales@stephengraver.com
